It’s no secret I’m an Oprah-aholic. Her words of wisdom have been guiding me through my life for the past 20 plus years and she is my ultimate in terms of idols. I have some of her most profound sayings taking pride of place on my vision board, her books adorn my shelves and bedside tables and I devour all of her TV content knowing that with each episode I see, an A-HA moment will come my way.
So, in honour of the fact there are only 40 more sleeps until I am able to bask in her presence, I want to share some of the most powerful lessons, memories or thoughts that Oprah has inspired me with in the lead up to it. This way I will be able to immerse myself fully in this passion of mine so that come December 10, when Lady O walks out on to the Stage in the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, my heart and soul and every inch of my being is vibrating and beating to the same hum as Oprah’s heart.
To get the ball rolling on this Top 25 reflection of all things Oprah I want to share with you a very simple lesson she has taught me.
“You, alone, are enough”
These four very small, but powerful, words that Oprah solemnly declared on the very last Oprah Winfrey Show in May 2011 that have stayed with me ever since that sad night we bid farewell to a show that was like a best friend. I’ve never forgotten them because this simple, yet so eloquent sentence summed up exactly what we, who battle insecurities, needed most to hear. And it’s something I remind myself of every single day.
