Naomi was like many pregnant first-time mums; as her stomach swelled, so did her anticipation for the moment she would meet her baby. She wasn’t going to take any risks and was nurturing both it and herself as she blossomed. She even underwent five ultrasounds over the course of her pregnancy to make sure everything was fine.

So it came as a huge shock when she gave birth to a baby girl who was missing her left hand and just over half her left forearm – something each scan failed to detect.
