Welcome to 20 weeks little one, and woohoo, we are officially halfway!
We got the chance to see you again mid last week, at our 19 week scan, and oh how it still takes our breath away when we see you burst onto the big screen before us. Wriggling and jiggling for the camera, it is like you are a natural born star already, playing it up for the audience.
I grin like an idiot through the entire scan, clasping your Daddy’s hand. In the background your big brother sings songs and plays pirates, completely oblivious to the magic that is unfurling before our eyes.
Yet when you hear his voice for the first time, while on the 3D screen, we are sure you smiled. Even the sonographer agreed it was so.
I’m trying to make the most of this pregnancy (being that it will be my last) even though at times its tough to do so. Having spent the first 13 weeks like I had been on a never ending hardcore alcohol fuelled bender with Lindsay Lohan resulting in the worst hangover known to man (and with no cure) we have sure sailed into calmer waters come Trimester 2. Though this last weekend I’ve begun to feel the strains of exhaustion creep in again. After a completely hectic fortnight followed by a very active weekend I began to feel like I was twice my size and age come Sunday night. Your Daddy even gave me my first pregnancy foot rub – and I say first as I desperately hope it is the start of more to come! Bliss!
What I’ve loved most is that comforting flutter of you floating about in my belly. There has got to be no greater feeling than the butterflies in the tummy sensation, acting like a signal that you are safe and well. It’s what I will miss most of all as well when this is over. (Though I can do without the 17 trips a night to the loo – if you could help your Mumma out here that’d be oh so appreciated!)
So now little one the countdown is on until we first meet. And while I feel the first half of the growing you into a little human process has gone incredible slow, I have a feeling the last half is about to fly by. With work, holidays, and the silly season closing in, we think it will be March before we know it! That’s why we’ve already begun getting things done in preparation for you joining our family. Oh yes, nesting has begun in earnest little one. We hope you will like what you find when you make your first trip home!
And yes, while we do know what will greet us once you come into this world, we are keeping Mum on that front (for now!). What is most important of all is that you are healthy and blossoming beautifully – and oh so adored already by your family.
Sweet little one, let’s make a pact. I’ll keep on nourishing, carrying and protecting you while you concentrate on getting big enough to come out to play. Let’s next meet again when we are face to face and your time to shine, to join this world has arrived.
Much love,
Mummy x

Oh! I’ve been away a bit, and I didn’t actually know about this! Congratulations, huge congratulations.
That scan photo! That’s a smile! It has to be. <3 <3
I am so happy that the hangover is finally over . . . I so remember how much that sucked!! What an adorable little one you are busy growing:)

Oh! How gorgeous is that 3D pic! Congrats on making it to halfway and getting through that awful first trimester. We’re 21 weeks now and loving those flutters too.
Oh hooray for tiny little bubbies! I’m so excited for you! Nothing like seeing those ultrasound images and feel them move.
Hope the rest of the pregnancy is smooth sailing for you, xx
I love this post, you express all of those sentiments so beautifully. Love the 3D pic.
Happy bubba!! x
So please to know that you are half way through and all is good. Enjoy the weeks to come. xxx
