“It’s official – I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!” I lamented to the husband, a slew of discarded clothes dappled all over my doona acting as exhibit A in my case against my closet contents.
Now upon hearing this declaration most husbands, depending on their fear levels, would either scoff (if they are game) or offer some sympathy – and, if you are truly lucky, their credit card!
Mine? He simply, matter-o-factly said this:
“Babe, it’s time to embrace the bump.”
He was right, I knew it but at only 14 weeks pregnant I feared it was far too early to be ditching my pre-pregnancy clothes in favour of the expanding-belly friendly variety.
But one glance down at my blossoming bump and there was no denying he was right.
So I took it upon myself to translate that ringing endorsement to mean “cha-ching” – a new wardrobe for moi!
It was around this same time that I was lucky enough to be selected to help spread the message on trendy maternity clothes from Melbourne company Mamma Bella (click here for a peek at their entire pretty pregnancy range!)
After voicing my pregnancy related wardrobe woes, they oh so kindly sent me a pair of their best selling maternity jeans, the Seraphine Maternity Dannii Straight Leg Jeans – given this title thanks to the one and only Dannii Minogue coveting them while carrying her gorgeous bump – to trial. (For more info, click here)
It was love to first wear, when I pulled these denim darlings on. The slimline design was far more flattering than any other maternity item of clothing I’ve own, and being crafted from a soft style of denim made them feel luxurious on, rather than heavy.
Another bonus – I LOVE the discreet belly band, and how it is designed to only be half elasticised waist. It means that from the back, you look like you are still in your pre-pregnancy jeans!
I can see why the team at Mamma Bella tell me that Mummies are wearing these jeans long after bub has been born. Being as super stylish as they are comfortable means you wont want to partake in the usual post pregnancy tradition and toss every item of maternity clothing you’ve worn far from sight. In fact I have a sneaky suspicion these Seraphine Maternity jeans are about to become a wardrobe staple of mine, burgeoning belly or not!
