NappyDaze joins forces with I-Am Magazine

June 26, 2011 By Donna Webeck

If someone had asked me where I thought my little blog might take me in years to come, I don’t think I’d have dared dreamed it to be possible that it might end up one day gracing the pages of a magazine.

So it is with unimaginable pride that I announce that NappyDaze has had its print debut!  Each month, mixed amongst the pages of the latest inspiring fashion, beauty, health & living the Sutherland Shire has to offer, I-AM Magazine, is my humble little blog column!
This is a tick-it-off-my-bucket-list-dream-come-true for me, to see my blog celebrate this publishing success. I have nurtured it as lovingly as if it were my second child (and is probably the reason WHY I dont have a second child, too much time spent on it perhaps..!?!), yet I cant help but feel its come about because of the mind shift I implemented back in Jan 2011, which I discuss in my first I-AM column…(I’m sharing below what I wrote and hope it equally inspires and delights you!).  It gives me reassurance I am heading in the write right direction, after so many years of shelving these much desired dreams of mine.

If you can get yourself to one of these reputable stockists in the Shire (see graphic to the right), you will also be helping to sustain the dream come true of the editor, and founder of I-AM Magazine, Sam Edwards.  She has poured her heart and soul into every inspiring page, and taken a risk, realising that if you do not go out on a limb, you miss out on the finest fruits… That’s a lesson in motivation we should all heed…

I-Am Magazine #1, July 2011:

It’s Time To Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

Hands up who honestly enjoys the notion of being “uncomfortable”?  Like me, I’d imagine many of us would prefer the safety and familiarity of our comfort zone, where the world is but a place of static “sameness”, as opposed to diving head first into the great unknown.  But no more!  Because back in January I stumbled across a saying so powerfully apt that I vowed to make it my mantra for the2011 year:

“The more willing I am to be uncomfortable, the more I find myself growing, accomplishing and transforming… The less willing I am to be uncomfortable, the more stress, resignation and suffering I experience” Mike Robbins, (extracted from www.oprah.com)

And so it became my personal pledge for 2011, whereby I resolved to do it all a little differently.  Like a precious crystal balanced precariously on this precipice we call everyday life, each morn I wake I’m aware how delicate it is, how fragile we are, and of the undeniable fact I am not always living my best life.
And that is where “I-AM Magazine” will make a difference in our world.  A fresh, fun, inspirational publication that will delight its devoted readers every month and leave you with a spring in your step and a zing in your smile!

So let’s embark on this sojourn of “uncomfortable” self-discovery together.  Let’s start to look at the world through a reinvigorated, refreshed perspective.  Let’s live with an open heart and stop letting life’s negativities poison their way into our streams of thought.  After all, as the Divine Ms Oprah Winfrey imparts “you become what you believe”.

Because I am certain that endless possibilities await the eager mind and enthusiastic soul.   And whilst I have long waged a private war against my inability to finish most of what I start (classic Aries, anyone?), and suffer from an affliction that sees me paralysed at the mere thought of making a decision, I hope this column will hold me to my mission, should I (likely, at some stage) stray from this newly paved path of optimism. Let’s take each other to task, and vow to do more of those things that scare the be’jesus outa us.  We’ll be braver, and ultimately, more blissful for it.
